Evaluating Computer Support From a Major Manufacturer
People in need of (and in the profession of) computer repair in greater Fort Lauderdale often debate the merits of Apple support and how it stacks up with the likes of major PC manufacturers such as HP.
After multiple trips to the local Apple store in recent months, as well as some lengthy communications with PC vendors, our staff certainly maintains differing opinions on the matter.
Such contrasting views raise an important question for those seeking computer repair in Ft. Lauderdale and consumer products in general.
Is support from some of the world's top PC vendors superior to Apple's? Or, as some are convinced, is the opposite the case?
Without question, the vaunted Mac Genius Bar has certainly won rave reviews from many consumers in Fort Lauderdale looking for computer repair and quick troubleshooting. But what if you have a PC?
Thanks to a problematic laptop one of our technicians acquired early this year, we have had periodic contact with HP computer support.
The most recent instance came when its copy of Windows XP was corrupted and the hard drive had to be erased and re-installed thrice.
When this kept happening with the copy of Windows, a call to HP was eventually made, at which point it was diagnosed with a faulty hard drive. A new drive was shipped quickly along with a set of recovery disks.
Everything arrived as expected, if not sooner, and despite a series of challenging tech support calls, the company did see the computer repair project through until it was completed and performed admirably.
After years in the Ft. Laurderdale computer repair business and dealing with every company under the sun, this is not a given by any means.
All in all, a major PC repair isn't directly comparable to a Genius Bar experience, as the projects are often more complex and the products vastly different at the end of the day. But this is how HP stacked up to the Mac geniuses, at least in this particular case:
- Product quality: Average.
- Speed of service: Very good.
- Quality of service: Good. It wasn't easy at times, but the job was done and done right. What more can you ask for?
- Accessibility of service: Good. Someone picked up and helped during every phone call, which is no small feat in this world.
