In an era when almost everyone owns a computer, it's safe to assume, as we talk about often, that at some point, there will be a problem that requires a Fort Lauderdale computer repair expert's help to fix.
The hard part is finding the right organization to assist you, and with this in mind, a Denver TV station took perfectly good, working laptop to a variety of local repair organizations in search of the best computer service.
The computer repair results were very mixed.
One expert, after first confirming that the laptop was in good working order, helped create a simple, easy-to-fix flaw in the laptop.
The problem created for purposes of the investigation wouldn't get much easier in terms of a repair, the expert said. But would the institutions sought to fix that flaw be up to the task - and at what cost?
The simulated computer repair problem is known in the industry as "chip creep" or "ram creeping," when the computer's memory cards are dislodged either by bumping or dropping the computer, or from a temperature shift.
The laptop was taken to seven computer repair shops in the area.
At two different Geek Squad locations, the technicians were told that the machine's motherboard was shot and that the power supply was dead.
The Firedog inside a Circuit City also told the investigative team that both the power drive and the motherboard likely had problems.
