A Big-Box Computer Repair Horror Story
What's going on with big box Fort Lauderdale computer repair retailers? Are we headed for an economic recession? Don't major companies and their employees care at all about the business consumers provide anymore?
The answers to those questions, respectively, are: No clue; Is Dwyane Wade good at basketball?; If they do, they go about it strangely.
Across Broward County and all of South Florida, more and more customers have expressed dissatisfaction with chain stores like Best Buy and Circuit City, where the computer repair rarely meets or exceeds expectations.
One of our Fort Lauderdale computer repair clients recently told our staff a story of how she took her laptop to a major retailer for repairs.
With a warranty plan covering all laptop repairs until 2010, she thought she was home free. Never an assumption one should make with this business (sadly). She was told the computer repair would be done in a week's time.
On that day, a call to the Boca Raton computer repair store revealed that the machine not even been shipped for repair - because the technician had not received a shipping box. Two to three days, he told her.
Eight - yes, eight - days later, she called for another update and the technician said he still hadn't received the shipping box.
Two weeks after that, they finally went to retrieve the repaired laptop. Except that the repair lasted all of 72 hours.
Three days later, the computer was taken back to the same Ft. Lauderdale computer repair destination (not sure why, but it was).
Once again, they told her 7-to-10 days. Finally, she wised up and sought a smaller, independent computer service to address her needs.
Amazingly, this kind of story isn't a rarity in this day and age. Big businesses may have greater name recognition, and make some appealing promises but that doesn't necessarily translate to better service.
Keep this in the back of your mind when (and if) you seek computer repair in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Broward County and vicinity.
