Dial-Up Users Now the Minority
Have you noticed that some major Internet sites, such as Adobe and Microsoft, still list download times for 56K modems?
Why is this necessary? This question was posed to our Boca Raton computer repair experts lately, and the answer is... we don't know.
In our estimation, and based on our experience, 56K modems have not been used by the majority of U.S. web users since the late 1990s.
One would think it would make more sense for a site to tell you what the download time is for a user's DSL or various cable connections.
Could the reason for this be that it matters little?
In other words, that dial-up users are the only ones who care how long it will take - as all high-speed connections are more or less the same (i.e., pretty fast)?
