A Ft. Lauderdale Computer Repair Q & A
Below are a few common questions asked of Fort Lauderdale computer repair experts, answered by the professionals themselves ...
Q. My "enter" key is no longer working all that well and is kind of annoying. Can you pry a key off and just replace the one key?
A. No, no and no. Prying off the key won't really solve this problem - in fact it could make things a lot worse. Instead, buy a new keyboard (actually very cheap) and replace that. You can replace the laptop keyboard itself or attach an external one and just use that. In any case, abort! Holster that screwdriver right now!
Q. Flat-panel monitor prices are falling. Before I buy one, how do I make sure my computer has enough power to make a larger (22") display work?
A. To get the most benefit out of a 22" monitor or similar, see if you have a DVI output on your computer for video. If not, you can still use a large monitor, albeit with a picture that won't be quite as sharp.
Q. Is there some sort of software program that will fix or enhance a laptop battery so it provides a longer charge?
A. No program - or Boca Raton computer repair expert is going to be able to fix a bad cell or just a worn out battery. However, as most laptops come with a lighter, cheaper battery for travel purposes (they weight less), there are heavier, higher-quality, longer-lasting batteries out there for purchase. So that is probably your best plan of attack. Shop around and you should be able to secure a pretty good deal.
Q. I downloaded the AVG Free Edition and it wasn't free, as is often reported. Is there even a free version and where does one get it?
A. There is a free version, but unless you're really paying attention, or are an avid reader of tech blogs (or a Ft. Lauderdale computer repair professional), it's hard to find. They just make it hard to find in hopes you'll buy the paid version, plain and simple. Go to "free.avg.com" and carefully follow the prompts. It really is free. Really. Enjoy!
