Its a welcome change to see a federal agency speak out for the greater interest of the nation's IT security. With its biggest client on its case, the US government , increased pressure might be a good incentive for Microsoft to clean up their act. And better still, a UNIX file server would be entirely impervious this worm even without a firewall.
For secure and reliable file and printer sharing, we recommend a Linux file server over the expensive Microsoft alternatives. Nonetheless, for those firms unfortunate enough not to have access to these alternate solutions, this type of attention is a good thing for the Internet at large. Let’s hope Homeland Security continues its cause in the hardening of the country's information infrastructure.
