Yahoo, Google Tops in Home Pages

Yahoo, Google Tops in Home Pages

Categories:
  • Fort Lauderdale Computer Repair

Most computer users set their home page to the site where they get their e-mail, according to a small South Florida computer survey.

Yahoo was the most-cited home page in the area, however, other Internet service providers also were cited with regularity.

Others polled cited AOL and AT&T, formerly was known as BellSouth, and both of which provide Internet and e-mail services.

With the advent of gmail, Google has become extremely popular, due to the familiarity of its search engine, on top of its e-mail service.

The home pages for most of these Internet-service providers, or ISPs, are known for blending access to email with their own featured sections containing news, sports and search engine capabilities.

Google is one big exception, with only a familiar search bar centered beneath the company's name. Gmail access is linked from there.

The unscientific poll taken by Boca Raton computer repair technicians also showed that MSN, Road Runner and Earthlink were all mentioned (albeit less often) as Internet-service providers. All are available locally.

Experts at the Ft. Lauderdale computer repair shops in said that by and large, customers seem to gravitate to the most popular home pages.

Personally, because Google loads quickly, is easy to use and doesn't clutter the screen with useless ads or features, we recommend it.

But surely you can make your own mind up on this one.

Among the most popular websites, the top two would be Google and Yahoo, though AOL maintains a sizable following and MySpace is growing fast.

While it may seem hard to believe, many Fort Lauderdale computer repair experts say users don't know they can change their homepage.

Along those lines, if you receive an upgrade from Microsoft Windows, it will generally set you up on - you guessed it - MSN.

Smart thinking on their part - but you can decide whether or not to keep it!
