PowerEd is a company created by teachers, for teachers. Using their experience as teachers, successfully preparing students for the FCAT, PowerEd provides test preparation literature and coursework that teachers can use to better prepare their pupils for their FCAT tests. While PowerEd was able to make successful and compelling content, they were adversely affected by piracy and material duplication related setbacks on their business model. When PowerEd came to DTI, we were presented with these specific technological problems that badly needed to be solved. DTI set about creating a modern solution to their problems.

As part of our solution, DTI created a dynamic website where PowerEd could upload Adobe PDFs and track their content. An administrative website was created for the PowerEd staff for managing its content, along with its PowerEd users. When user's logged into the website, their materials could be downloaded and printed on their home computers. As a bonus, all materials downloaded were watermarked with the downloader's username and download time. This later feature enabled PowerEd to identify pirated copies when they were identified.
